About Project
The project’s core objective is to provide technical support to the seven states in Northeast India, expediting the incorporation of electric vehicles (EVs) into their transportation systems to meet the national goal of achieving 30% EV sales by 2030.
With the exception of Sikkim and Nagaland, states like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura in the Northeast have unveiled their EV policies. However, many of these lack clear targets, incentives, and actionable plans, resulting in minimal EV adoption. Only around 86,000 EVs are registered in the region, making up less than 1% of total car registrations. Given the unique characteristics of these states, a comprehensive and sustainable transport growth plan is crucial. IIEC-India aims to facilitate this by offering technical assistance and capacity support to various nodal departments, aiding the formulation of effective policies and guidelines to boost EV adoption across the states.
